The commentaries of our Vishwanath Chakravarti Thakur Ji are very beautiful. In one of his commentaries, he mentioned a question that Arjuna asked:
"O Lord, please tell me—when You are the one who gives everything, when You help those who are in distress, when You provide even worldly desires, just as You gave to Sudama and Vibhishan, and revived the dead son of the Guru’s wife—then why do people leave You and take shelter of various other demigods? You are the one who gives everything anyway."
Then Lord Krishna replies:
"Kāmais tais tair hṛta-jñānāḥ prapadyante 'nya-devatāḥ
taṁ taṁ niyamam āsthāya prakṛtyā niyatāḥ svayā"
"Those whose intelligence has been stolen by material desires surrender to other demigods and follow particular rules and regulations according to their own natures."
The Lord says that those people go to various demigods for shelter, and I establish their faith there. The Lord does not break anyone’s faith, because it is in that person's nature to go to demigods. Therefore, I strengthen their faith in that very place."
